Go point-to-point with Patton GAITHERSBURG, MD Patton Electronics Co. has announced a series of baseband modems that facilitate high-speed metropolitan or campus communication over several kilometres of unconditioned twisted-pair wire. The Patton KiloModems allow telephone companies and Internet Service Providers to give customers point-to-point access in areas where copper twisted-pair wire between 26 AWG and 19 AWG is available. There are four base units in the modem series. Three are available for four-wire (models 1090, 1093, 1094) applications while model 1092 is available for two-wire applications. Each unit in the series is designed to accept one of seven Patton QuikConnect DTE interface modules. These modules may be installed or removed without the use of tools and allow any base unit in the series to interface with bridges, routers, switches, multiplexers, servers and terminals from a variety of manufacturers.
