KOM Networks Extends Its Support to Sony's Next Generation Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Format

Palm Desert CA, USA - April 10, 2001
KOM Networks, a leading storage management software provider, today announced its support of Sony's next-generation optical data storage system, provisionary named "5.25-inch Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Format". The UDO format is being developed to satisfy the market's need for higher capacity optical storage by offering 40GB of recording capacity.

The UDO format will utilize violet laser at 405nm wavelength and a land-groove recording system to produce a high-density optical storage disk. Sony is planning to finalize the UDO format by spring of 2001 and launch the product in late 2002.
