KOM Networks reveals Hard Disk Archiving Server for Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 at SNW

SAN DIEGO and OTTAWA, CANADA– April 5, 2006
KOM Networks Inc, an innovative provider of Data Archiving Solutions and Storage Management software, today announced the availability of the KOMworx Archive Server, a compliance enabled solution for the Microsoft Windows platform, at the Storage Networking World (SNW) Conference in San Diego, CA. The Archive Server features the advanced hard disk archiving (e-WORM) and storage management capabilities of KOMworx software, with the reliability of HP ProLiant servers and the power and simplicity of Windows Storage Server 2003 R2.

KOMworx Archive Server is a breakthrough turnkey product combining advanced data archiving storage management software with robust HP hardware, running on a simple but powerful Windows platform,” said Dr. Taher Shaath, CEO of KOM Networks. “This gives the SMB market an affordable, high performance enterprise class archiving appliance.”

The hard disk archiving (e-WORM) capability of KOMworx Archive Server transforms standard disk hardware into non-rewriteable, non-erasable storage media, enabling companies to meet stringent compliance regulations such as HIPAA, SEC 17a-4, Sarbanes-Oxley, DoD 5015.2, and NASD. Incorporating the familiarity and ease of the Windows environment, KOMworx server also brings a complete range of storage management capabilities to the platform, including transparent archiving, automated retention, policy driven ILM and dynamic capacity management.

“The KOMworx Archive Server fills a void in the marketplace for a compliance-enabled archiving and storage solution that can be easily integrated with e-mail archiving, ECM, DMS and other enterprise applications for organizations in the health care, financial and government sectors,” said Frank Orlando, manager, ILM Partnerships, StorageWorks Division, HP.

The KOMworx Archive Server was crafted for the SMB market, a growing segment that has limited IT infrastructure and resources. Organizations already acquainted with Windows can take advantage of their expertise by using a familiar interface to easily implement their archiving needs ranging from compliance to business continuity.

“In today’s enterprise and SMB market, there is a need for a broad choice of Windows-based storage technologies,” said Dr. Claude Lorenson, group product manager, Storage Technologies at Microsoft Corporation. “KOMworx Archive Server is an important step towards bringing easy yet powerful data archiving and compliance enabling solutions to the market.”

The KOMworx Archive Server is backed by a 3-year global field service plan, and a 24x7 live technical support line.
